ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Gaborone, Botswana February 12, 2020: The Board of Kalahari Conservation Society (KCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Thato Barbara Morule as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective 1st February 2020. She joined KCS as Deputy CEO on 1st December 2019 and she is succeeding Mr Neil Fitt, who retired at the end of January 2020. Ms Morule is the second Motswana woman to be appointed as the CEO.
Ms Morule brings with her a wealth of experience gained over a career spanning more than 20 years in the field of natural resources management, including research and analysis, policy & legislation framework and advocacy. She also specialises in strategic development and planning as well as organisational development.
Most recently, Ms Morule, was a Policy Advocacy Manager for Hospitality & Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB). She has served in several positions in the civil service including as a Wildlife Biologist, Chief Management Analyst and Chief Strategist at the National Strategy Office. She has also served as a Technical Advisor for Trans-frontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs) at the SADC Secretariat
Ms Morule holds a MSc in Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture (University of Norway); BSc (Agric) majoring in Wildlife Resources (Biology) from McGill University (Canada). She is a certified PRINCE2 ® Registered Practitioner and a Lifetime Member at the Institute of Management Services (UK). Ms Morule is an active member of specialised and civil organisations such as Pan-African Competitiveness Forum (PACF) Council, Westwood International School Council and the SOS Children’s Villages Association of Botswana.

KCS, founded in 1982, is the longest serving locally based environmental NGO. The Society is a member of Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO), Business Botswana, Hospitality & Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) and IUCN.
